Firefly!

This weekend was stressful, but good. Camping and portapotties always skeeves me out a little, but everything else went well.

We left at 630 on Friday morning which proved to be an amazing idea. Those who left after us spent up to six hours in traffic! We got to the lot, got everything all set up at the campsite and had some drinks before we went in to the festival. I think we saw Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds first which was really good but I couldn't understand many of the lyrics. I got a little separated from everyone for twenty one pilots, but Cyndi eventually found me and it was nice not to be alone. :) Then we moved on to Ellie Goulding and the Avett Brothers, followed by Calvin Harris. We left RHCP early because it was too packed. The festival doubled this year and made it harder to get close to the shows.

Saturday Brian and I woke up and walked to TJ Maxx to get me a pillow because I forgot one, and to Best Buy to get a battery bank, the craziness of trying to keep phones charged and keep everyone connected fr the day before necessitated this move. Once into the festival we saw some of Jim James, Alabama Shakes, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, who were awesome. Then we all fumbled our way back to the site, sore and sleepy.

Sunday had us at Delta Rae first thing, followed by Haim, and then Matt and Kim who killed it. The we saw a little of capital cities before leaving to go home. I wish u could have stayed to see Vampire Weekend, but we were all so exhausted and couldn't last that long! Hit no traffic going home and unloaded the van, took showers and watched TV until we passed out.

So, do I want to do it a third year? Despite the congestion, and the sunburn, I say yes, as long as I can get a hotel ro
Caitlin needs a bed, a shower and a real bathroom!

Yes, that's Bob Saget.

Good times...

I must congratulate my team, Here for Beer on our best kickball season yet! We made it three games into the playoffs and I'm so proud of everyone!

The past week was packed with stuff for me, three kickball games, Man of Steel midnight premiere, collected Brian from the airport after his California excursion, Twin Lakes Brewery tour, Chaddsford Winery tour, ate at Jessop's, and spent Father's Day lunch with my Dad and went to Brian's parents' house for dinner.  A good week with good people and fun times.

The second year of the Firefly Music Festival is almost upon us. Which means I'm trying to get everything together and situated for maximum fun. My dad is lending me his other minivan again this year so I can sleep in the back of it and not on the ground. This year Brian and I are camping out with his roommate Yarney, Yarney's sister Laura and her boyfriend Pat who live in Dover, and our friends Laura Lou and Cyndi. I know we will also know a billion other people there because, come on, it's Delaware, everyone knows everyone.

Here's a shot from last year's fun.

Unfortunately, Brian came back from California with an icky cold. So here's hoping he's better by Friday and that I don't get sick too. I mean, I'm sure it's still fun with a cold, but who wants to be all congested for a festival?

I picked up some new shorts and a cute dress for the festival and I'm ready to rock out!

the grass is greener where you water it.

Hi. I'm Caitlin. Here is a picture of me.

If you know me, you know that my default point of view is not necessarily the most sunny. I like to call it "realism" or  "disaster-ready," but really it's just counter productive. I don't ever want to be a person that is delusional and can't accept reality, but honestly who thinks I'd swing that far to the other side? People tell me all the time that I'm a 'glass half-empty' person.

Well, I don't like when people tell me who I am. I hate when people pigeonhole me. So I don't want to be that and I'm gonna try.  And honestly I'd appreciate if everyone gave me the benefit of the doubt for a least a little while. If you assume I'm gonna be a Debbie Downer about something, don't tell me because imma cut you.

So help me out.

Also, I'm looking to start up some old hobbies again. Maybe I'll sew some more or play more music. To be determined. If anyone else is interested in getting into things like that let me know, I can use some hobby buddies.

Here is a cupcake. It looks happy.
